United Way of Southeastern Connecticut has been granting money to the local community’s non-profit agencies that focus on community wellness, thriving children, basic needs, and training and education for jobs. Currently aiding thirty-six partner programs, the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut hopes to help shift the community into a more positive direction.
Challenge
The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut has been working with Community TechKnowledge (CTK) and their Online Data Manager (ODM) for the past three years, using it predominately with other agencies and their application process. Non-profit organizations apply to receive grants from United Way through the ODM, and is later sorted out by volunteers. The ODM also aids in the allocations process, helps manage volunteers, and track outcomes of clients. Using the ODM also cuts down on the number of calls that they must take care of right away and allows the staff to attend to matters when they have time.
CTK Product Solution
Gloria Zielenski, the agency’s MIS director, feels that it is important to understand the flexibility that anyone is given with a product. Although they were not used to the database when they first started, the agency now recognizes the variety of functions that it can yield. This flexibility helps the diverse needs of their different departments and helps reduce confusion and increase efficiency.
“One of the best things about the ODM is the flexibility it offers. We are able to think of other ways of using it, and stray away from the mindset that we first began with.”
-Gloria Zielenski, United Way of Southeastern Connecticut MIS director
